Lift Canal Project

GIS has its numerous applications in irrigation systems that include preparation of thematic maps, selection of tanks/balancing reservoirs, lift and gravity alignments, 3D terrain models for bird’s eye view of the terrain and many others.

Concept:

The lift irrigation method is used both for watering of a certain area as a whole and for water application to particular elevated sites in the area of gravity irrigation (at that water is lifted from river or from irrigation canals).

We supplied 3D terrain model using stereo pair of high-resolution satellite imagery for lift canal project

Scope of Work:

Create a Digital Terrain Model (DTM) used as an input for lift irrigation project. 

Deliverables:

30cm stereo satellite data was used and 0.5m grid spacing DTM produced as an output. With DTM, we provided the height and drainage pattern of the area that help in measuring potential and capacity of runoff.
